Our Commitment
We want to do more good than harm. As mostly white organizers, we can and will do harm in many ways.
We recommend our organizers attend The People’s Institute Undoing Racism Workshop and attend events led by CARW. The People’s Institute is “based on the premise that racism has been systematically erected and that it can be ‘undone’ if people understand where it comes from, how it functions and why it is perpetuated”. CARW works in affinity groups to support Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color (BIPOC) led efforts through solidarity models of community support.
Additionally, please fund accountability partners to provide accountability mechanisms. We must all do more to dismantle white supremacist systems in our personal and professional lives.
We encourage Seattleites to take the following actions:
1. Visit the Duwamish Longhouse, and if you’re able, pay rent through Real Rent Duwamish.
2. Support King County Equity Now and support Black-led actions for equitable development.
